Baritone Connor Akira Perry, is a Wilmington native, singer, actor, voice teacher, and performer. He currently attends the University of North Carolina at Wilmington pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance, where he studies classical voice under Beth Gazda (Stovall), and Nancy King.
At UNCW, Connor has performed one solo voice recital, has sung under the baton of Dr Aaron Peisner in both Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers for nine semesters, and serves as a Choral Scholar at St. Paul’s Episcopal church. Connor has participated in master classes with decorated performers, such as Grammy nominated and Metropolitan Opera Baritone Joshua Conyers, Grammy nominated jazz vocalist Kate McGary, and Andrea Edith Moore of the North Carolina Opera. He has performed in four UNCW Spring opera concerts, singing selections of Don Giovanni from “Don Giovanni”, Javert from “Les Miserables”, Dottore Malatesta from “Don Pasquale”, Gugliemo from “Così Fan Tutte”, and Eisenstein from “Die Fledermaus”. Connor has also served as a featured soloist in multiple engagements around Wilmington such as UNCW’s ArtsFest (‘22), Southport Opera Day (‘23), Opera House Theatre Companies Luminary Gala (‘24), UNCW Department of Music’s Honors Recital (Fall 2024), UNCW Chamber Singers “Messiah” Parts II & III (‘25), and has served as the national anthem singer for UNCW men’s basketball and the Wilmington Sharks.
Outside of UNCW Connor is a highly active member of the Wilmington theatre community, working with multiple theatre companies over the past four years. Some of his notable musical theatre credits include the titular role in Thalian Association Community Theatre’s production of “Nickelodeon’s The SpongeBob Square Pants Musical” for which he was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Musical at the 2025 Wilmington Theatre Awards, and Best Actor at the 2024 Thalian Awards, Neil Sedaka and Righteous Brother in Opera House Theatre Companies “Beautiful, the Carole King Musical”, Otto in “Spring Awakening”, Muleteer in “Man of La Mancha”, and has ensemble credits for multiple award winning productions.
